One of Netflix’s most popular shows, Stranger Things, returned for its final season this past week. It was highly anticipated and was released in three parts, which built up an immense amount of excitement for fans of the show.
The initial volume, which consisted of four episodes was released on November 26th. This section of episodes ended on a cliffhanger and caused anticipation for the rest of the season. The next three episodes premiered on Christmas Day and the finale was released on December 31st.
As the show was first released in 2016, many students at South have been fans of the show for almost a decade. Since the show has finally come to an end there are many conflicting opinions about it.
Some students found the last episode as disappointing as it lacked the action and suspense that the previous seasons and episodes held.
“While I was watching it [the final episode] I heard things from social media before so I was underwhelmed when I finished it because I thought there would be more hype,” said junior Adrianna Ibarra. “I still liked it but I thought there would be more.”
On the other hand, some students admired the emotional tone the epilogue had.
“I thought it was pretty well done,” said senior Leanne Jacob. “I watched it with my neighbor and I thought it was very heartwarming and nostalgic. There is definitely a lot of character development shown and I liked it overall.”
Even though there are mixed emotions on the finale, Stranger Things has finally come to an end after almost a decade. The impact this show had will continue to be remembered by the audience.
