80 members of the Hinsdale South band and choir and going to New York City on Veterans Day weekend.
Choir will be performing at St. Bartholomew’s Church and band will be featured in the New York City Veterans Day Parade and will be recording music in a Broadway studio. Both programs will be attending a workshop led by Broadway actors and musicians and will be seeing Wicked on Broadway.
Aside from musical activities, both programs will be going to The 9/11 Memorial, The Statue of Liberty, and Times Square. It is a tradition for the band and choir to travel to either New York City or Disneyland. This trip has been planned since the end of last year.
“Ever since the New York trip was first mentioned last year, I’ve been looking forward to going. I’ve marched in parades in Chicago before, but never anything like the New York Veterans day parade. It’s been amazing having the opportunity to participate in such a large event, and I cannot wait to go,”- said Sarah Haney, a sophomore in band
“I can’t wait for the New York trip, especially getting to see Wicked. It’s my favorite musical, and I got to see it in Chicago. It’s one of the only musicals I’ve ever wanted to see more than once, and I’m so excited I get to see it again. I also can’t wait to get to participate in all of the activities we are going to do, such as seeing the Statue of Liberty and participating in workshops and fun choir/theater things with my friends,”- said Casey Johnson, a sophomore in choir
