Mr. Beesley is a CTE teacher who teaches pre-engineering and other CTE related subjects. He also coaches baseball here at Hinsdale South
As a highschooler, Beesley was a baseball player in high school and currently coaches as well. In high school, he loved the sense of community there is here in South, and that he could feel the support from local businesses and families. To this day he still loves the community here and the support from our community. As a student, he said he had a text book for every class and that there was a bigger student body (2,000 kids). As well as the school not having our turf fields, some outdated facilities (field house, pool, and gym) as well as a bigger lunch room.
Mr. Beesley did not expect to teach at Hinsdale South. Matter of fact, in college he swore he would never come back. But as a student teacher he was teaching at Downers Grove South, and was already coaching at Hinsdale South. He had the choice of applying to both schools but chose South because he was already coaching here. Beesley loves coaching and is very proud of how much effort students athletes put into their sports.
One difference between Hinsdale South when he was in school and now as a teacher is the amount of kids trying out for sports. He said that hundreds of kids would try out for sports, but now as a result of the student body being smaller there aren’t that many people trying out. Beesley also said that the amount of technology usage is bigger with Chromebooks and online textbooks. But he says the energy and passion from students is still the same. He also believes that teachers still work to be on the cutting edge of education and challenges students.
Mr Beesley’s favorite memory from Hinsdale South is meeting his wife at Hinsdale South. He said, “We met as sophomores, started dating as juniors, went to prom together, and married eight years later. We dated for 13 years and now have been married for five”.
Looking forward, Beesley wants to see a bigger emphasis for hands on and career focused parts of classes. With the Geometry in Construction class, he’s enjoying the addition of the class and hoping for more like it in the future.
When asked if he would recommend teaching at Hinsdale South he said he would definitely recommend teaching at Hinsdale South. He stated “It is a great place to work, and I could not imagine being anywhere else.”
