Make sure to mark your calendars because the AP studio art show is going to take place on April 25th this year.
This showcase annually displays the talent and creativity of our student artists. It will contain artwork from the classes AP Studio 2D, 3D, and Photography. It will mainly carry content that was created by juniors and seniors who have spent years perfecting their craft.
The exhibition will have a wide variety of artwork to enjoy. It will have colorful paintings as well as detailed sculptures and photographs.
The official opening of the exhibition is on April 25th, but the showcase will remain open the following week as well. From April 28th to May 2nd, you can visit the gallery during school hours. Students and staff both have an opportunity to appreciate the range of artwork that will be displayed.
For many AP art students, this is a crucial time period. It is the final presentation of their art portfolios before they are submitted to the College Board. For these students, this event is the result of months of preparation and hard work.
“Something I’ll remember most about this experience after high school is the amount of work and effort I put into each art piece,” Senior Eva Borsuk, a student in AP 2-D Art and Design said. “It’s really satisfying to see the rewards that come out of doing pieces you worked really hard on.”
A lot of effort has gone into making this gallery successful and memorable. Hours of hard work and challenges have led these students to this moment.
“The most challenging part of preparing for the submission is definitely trying to submit all your work before the deadline,” Borsuk continued. “Especially bigger art when there’s more space to cover, the clock is against you.”
Along with that, senior Victoria Wysocki said, “For me, the hardest part is actually making the art. I know that as an AP art student it sounds like it shouldn’t, but in reality I have a hard time finishing pieces that fit into one cohesive theme that the College Board can grade. It’s also really hard to sum up a whole year’s worth of process into one short paragraph that talks about my theme and guiding questions.”
Each part of the process of creating a piece of art is unique for each student. They have all spent hours refining and perfecting their pieces. Each piece of artwork is unique and showcases the growth of our artists over the years. Make sure you stop by the gallery and support our talented student artists.
