Black Friday, a beloved day by shoppers around the country, recently passed last Friday. Most people associate Black Friday with long lines, packed stores, and chaos, but in recent years this has changed drastically.
With an increase of people shopping online, the traditional annoyances that most people associated with the day have drastically changed. Since most people shop online now, stores no longer open as early in the morning as they previously did. They also are not nearly as hectic as they once were.
Along with that, a lot of the online sales now begin during the week of Thanksgiving or even earlier. This also plays a large role in getting rid of the large crowd associated with Black Friday since now people are not forced to go in person to a store on one singular day to be able purchase items at a discounted price.
Still, the deals offered on this day allow for many people to stock up on items they need year round and items they have been wanting for a while. It also lets people get a head start on holiday shopping at a significantly lower cost.
“I got earrings and necklaces from Claire’s and they were all seventy percent off, so I got them for like a dollar,” Sophomore Varsha Bijo said. “I also got some stuff from Ulta.”
Black Friday shopping offers an unofficial start to the holiday season with the excitement that comes from a perfect deal. Even though times are changing and Black Friday is not what it used to be, what could be better than saving big without having to worry about the chaos and crowd that used to go along with it?
