A couple of weeks ago, the Hinsdale South Hornets football team played against Willowbrook High School for the annual homecoming football game. The Hornets were at the Hinsdale South Stadium during this game and hundreds of students, family, and friends showed up to watch the game. The stands were packed, as so many people were thrilled for this game for weeks!
Throughout the first few downs, everything was going well. The Hornets were making the right passes and plays. They were playing great! Until disaster the turnover. Willowbrook got possession and although the Hornets were doing everything they could to defend, Willowbrook broke through and scored a touchdown. Willowbrook always somehow managed to get past the Hornet’s tough defense many times during the first half of the game with the score being 32-0 during halftime.
There was still hope as hundreds of fans and students were still watching, cheering for our team as the Hornets played, still filling up the stadium with energy. Freshman Mauricio exclaimed during halftime, “Come on Hornets! The game isn’t over until the fourth quarter!”
The atmosphere was incredible and the fans were very supportive, which was able to give our team the energy for a big push to score a touchdown! Even though the Hornets had a rough loss with the final score being 45-7, they played their best and will hold their heads high as they look forward to the next game. With this game demonstrating the Hornet’s resilience and unwavering spirit, they plan to bring the same mindset for the last few games of the season.
