Every year Hispanic Heritage month is celebrated from September 15th to October 15th. Our school has commemorated this celebration in a variety of ways.
Hispanic heritage month celebrates the rich culture, contributions, and history from Hispanic communities. It also honors all the different achievements those with Latin American roots have achieved. This celebration showcases the great impact Hispanic communities have left on American society and recognizes the diversity of our country.
Our school was able to celebrate and represent the Hispanic community at our school with the help of our Hispanic and Latino Club.
They were able to do this by selling traditional Hispanic dishes during lunch periods, such as elotes, churros, and paletas. They also played Spanish music during these lunch periods.
“The way South celebrated Hispanic Heritage month helped educate all students about the month, not just Hispanic ones,” said Sophomore Genesis Ayala.
