Hispanic Heritage Month is a celebration in the United States that runs from September 15th to October 15th.
It’s a time dedicated to recognizing the rich cultural contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. This month honors the diverse traditions, history, and achievements of people with roots in Central and South America, and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean. It’s a time for festivities, educational events, and fostering a deeper understanding of the vibrant tapestry of Hispanic cultures.
Our school has hundreds of Latino and Hispanic students, so these past few weeks many things have been done to celebrate and embrace the various cultures of the students of Hinsdale South.
“Hispanic History month has proven to be of such a value to this school and I appreciate the different ways that we have been able to celebrate,” says freshman Abigail Ríos-Tejeda,
These celebrations included food tastings, where students had the opportunity to try authentic Hispanic dishes such as paletas (traditional mexican ice cream) and elotes (corn dish), they also had a band that played and sang many popular Spanish songs.
