Meet Me at Midnights

Audrey Atkinson and Maya Chrzanowska

Taylor Swift released her 10th studio album Midnights on October 21, 2022. Already her songs have claimed the top 10 spots on the Hot 100 billboard, causing the famous pop artist to make history.

The mood of these new tracks is different from her previous albums, being that they do not fall into the country genre, but also stray from the traditional pop style. Instead they seem to be focused on the storyline through a more mellow but still upbeat rhythm.

The number one song on the billboard top 100 is Anti-Hero. The song skyrocketed into  popularity because of how many people can relate to it. It displayed everyday struggles such as body image. Unlike so many other artists who sing about things none of us have been through, Taylor is able to connect to a wide range of listeners.

Not only was the album heavily streamed online, but it set a new 21st-century benchmark for vinyl sales, moving 575,000 LPs in the first week. This album is seen to be contributing to the revival of vinyl.

Additionally, the 13 track album has a deluxe version titled Midnight’s (3am Edition) that gives listeners an extra 7 songs.

The tremendous album was not only written by Taylor Swift, but also by her longtime collaborator Jack Antoff. Something different about this album is that one of the tracks Taylor co-wrote with her boyfriend Joe Alywyn. This is interesting because many of her songs consist of her singing about ex boyfriends.

Midnights is a record breaking album that will get stuck in your head for days. The well crafted tracks contain great stories about 13 scattered sleepless nights and is highly recommended by all Swifties to listen to.
