Art Show Through Photographer’s Eyes

Hinsdale South is known for its exceptional fine arts program. Each year, a show featuring the work of the finest AP Studio Art students is held in the auditorium foyer. From photography, to digital art, to even metalworking, the show includes a wide range of media.

Each student has the opportunity to take inspiration from other talented artists along with using their own imagination. Carolina Ortiz, a photographer, finds inspiration in famous photographers like Cindy Sherman and Nadia Lee Cohen, as well as in her own life experiences.

Art has helped develop life skills and find “ways to explore [her] own identity,” Ortiz said.

AP Art courses require motivation and the ability to continuously refine skills in order to see improvement and growth. Ortiz believes the difficulty of AP Art courses has helped her develop skills and have fun in a competitive environment. Her motivation to create is self-expression.

“Art is a way to express my thoughts, so I enjoy creating work that allows me to express myself,” Ortiz said.

The Annual AP Studio Art Show will be open for viewing until Friday, April 29, 2022.
