In the past, Bruno Mars has bedazzled many audiences around the world with his insane vocal range and choreography skills. His songs like “Treasure,” “Locked Out of Heaven,” and “Grenade” have been on the Billboard Hot 100 for weeks upon weeks and he has packed the biggest arenas and stadiums on the planet to the brim.

Before 2016, Mars released two previous albums: Doo-Woops and Hooligans and the Unorthodox Jukebox. His third album, 24k Magic, was then dropped in 2016. This album differed from other songs in the market because of the new sound created through a new flow of lyrics. 24k Magic set trends for the year, transforming the American culture into a party-hungry and wild culture. The album, now played on the radio as well as almost all dance parties, is known widely as the “party-album.”

Mars was recognized for this album by being nominated for seven Grammy awards and winning three. His album was named as the Album of the Year, Best R&B Album, and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.

After this wave of success, he decided to take a break in order to focus on his family and himself as a musician and an individual. After five long years, Bruno Mars is making a comeback into the music industry with a new band, a new partner, and…a new sound.

In February of 2021, it was announced that Bruno Mars would be collabing with a fellow R&B artist, Anderson Paak, on a new project called Silk Sonic. This brought excitement to the fans of both artists, for the fans knew that the two have similar sounds and combining them would create a fantastic product.

In March of 2021, the duo released their debut single called “Leave the Door Open.” The song consisted of a slower feel, unexpected beats, and vocals from both artists that were through the roof. The debut of this single began to bring attention towards the project pushing them into mainstream media.

Eight months after the release of the single, the anticipated release of the full album had finally arrived. The album An Evening with Silk Sonic was released in November of 2021. It brought a total of eight new tracks to the table, all with different sounds and feels. It ranges from the fast, wild pace of the song “777” to the slower, more patient feel of “Put on a Smile.” The album as a whole captures the essence of 70’s and 80’s funky pop with a modern spin to it.

Once the album was released, opportunities for Mars and Paak came swinging through the door. Throughout the past couple of months the duo was able to perform for many venues including the Grammys and the American Music Awards. They were able to produce music videos for a decent amount of their songs as well. To top it all off, the album was nominated for two Grammys, Best Record of the Year and Best R&B Performance. Even as the two artists approach their late 30s, they continue to raise the bar in so many new and refreshing ways.
